Description
Dr. Terrilea Burnett from the Hawaii Skin Cancer Coalition provided an educational skin cancer identification session to the pre-medical students from University of Hawaii (UH) West Oahu, UH at Manoa, and The Dermatology Interest Group (DIGS) medical students at the UH John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM).
Dr. Burnett provided medical students with a background on the general development of skin cancer as well as ways to identify and differentiate between the various subtypes.
A total of 6 training sessions were conducted by Dr. Burnett at the end of September to increase the pool of trained volunteers to staff the Skin Check Van events and to support the Coalition projects scheduled for the 2026-2027.
